The NV Energy Foundation has awarded $305,000 in grants this quarter to nonprofits that support community needs.
Executive Vice President Tony Sanchez said the grants address needs in areas of education, youth, environment and community safety and wellness as well as arts and culture.
He said the grants were awarded to nonprofit groups that focus on initiatives that help promote a better quality of life for individuals and families in the community.
Altogether, 25 grants totaling $145,100 were awarded in Northern Nevada to organizations including Volunteers of America, the Northern Nevada Food Bank and Nevada’s RSVP program.
Another 23 grants were awarded in southern Nevada totaling $160,150.
Sanchez pointed out that the foundation is funded by NV Energy, not by its customers.
