Carson City couple celebrates 77th wedding anniversary

Harold and Mildred McGuire will celebrate their 77th wedding anniversary on Friday. They were married on Oct. 11, 1942, in Loveland, Colo. Both are 95 and remain active in Carson City. They have one son, Donald, 75, retired, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Jean, who live in Minden.

Harold and Mildred met in high school and married the following fall after they graduated in May 1942. They lived briefly in Seattle, Wash., before moving to Carson City, where they have remained for more than 50 years.

Harold retired from United Airlines in 1984 as an electronic maintenance foreman and Mildred retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1978 as a window clerk.

The couple plan to celebrate their anniversary in Carson Plaza with family and friends and remain in good health.
