Martha Betty Berger  Oct 23, 1918 ~ Aug 23, 2019

Long time Carson City resident, Betty Berger peacefully passed away at her home on Friday August 23, she was just 2 months shy of her 101st birthday.

Betty was born in Huntington, Indiana to Alfred and Bess Lewis. Her great aunt was disappointed that she was not named after her, so she started calling her Betty at birth to spite her family. The name Betty stuck for the remainder of her life. Her family moved to Carson City from Wyoming when she was a freshman in high school. She was proud to be a member of the graduating class of 1936 from Carson High School.

She was married in the First Presbyterian Church to the love of her life, Clarence Berger for 65 years, who preceded her in death.

Betty worked in banking and for the State of Nevada most of her life.

Family and friends would best describe her as a strong, energetic, independent and sometimes feisty woman. She enjoyed painting, aquacise, yoga, bridge and ballroom dancing even into her late 90's.

She will be missed by her large extended family.

A celebration of life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 306 W Musser St., Carson City, on Saturday September 14th at 11 o'clock. Following there will be a reception in her honor.

Her family would like to give special thanks to Home Instead and Kindred Hospice for the care and love they showed their aunt during her remaining months.

Carson City RSVP also helped Betty tremendously after she stopped driving. They provided rides to doctors appointments, shopping and the many activities she was involved with, so in lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Carson City RSVP.
