Flavors of India is closing its current location on Carson Street at the Carson Mall.

“Flavors of India Family, tomorrow’s lunch buffet will be our last meal service,” read a post on the Indian food restaurant’s Facebook page on Wednesday. “We will be closing this location and remain closed for at least the next few months while we take a break and search for a new location. We would like to thank everyone for welcoming us into your beautiful community and always giving your love and support.”

Dolly Kaur, Flavors of India owner, said she was putting everything in storage while she looked for a new location in Carson City, but first she is taking some time off.

“I put my heart and soul into this,” she said Thursday.

Kaur said she had trouble working with The Carrington Co., the landlord, who she says did not do needed repairs on the 10,000-square-foot building.

Kaur said she invested $300,000 in the building between repairs and a new banquet area in the back.

“It is hard to walk away,” she said.

Chad Christensen, regional director of real estate, The Carrington Co., said the restaurant’s closure was unfortunate and due to a number of factors.

“We truly wish Dolly the best, she is a fantastic human being,” he said.

Christensen said a new tenant with a family-oriented use not currently offered in Carson City may take over the building.
