Nevada’s coronavirus Task Force was told Wednesday that one of the six cases of a serious reaction to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine happened in Nevada.
Officials in the state were not told that until the live public meeting at noon Wednesday.
Tuesday, Nevada joined other states in pausing the administration of the J&J vaccine at the recommendation of the federal Food and Drug Administration. FDA is investigating the serious reactions that occurred.
But officials point out that six such reactions out of the 7 million doses administered is a tiny percentage of problems with the shots.
A spokesman for the Task Force said Nevada immediately reached out to the federal government for more information and an explanation why Nevada was not told one of the cases occurred here earlier.
