Carson, Lyon report COVID-19 deaths

Carson City and Lyon County reported deaths due to COVID-19 during the week of July 29 to Aug. 4, Carson City Health and Human Services said Thursday.

CCHHS also reported 305 new cases, and 101 recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 13,798, with 13,047 recoveries and 235 deaths; 516 cases remain active.

Carson City had 1 death, 78 new cases, and 31 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 13 new cases per day with a 14.2% test positivity rate.

Douglas County had 63 new cases and 13 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 7 new cases per day with a 16.0% test positivity rate.

Lyon County had 1 death, 164 new cases, and 57 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 15 new cases per day with a 16.3% test positivity rate.

Storey County had 0 new cases and 0 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 0.0% test positivity rate.

 

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

 

As of August 4, 2021, approximately 171,191 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 69,484 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 74,506 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 82,389 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.

In Carson City, 29,184 residents have been completely vaccinated and 32,043 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 58.33% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Douglas County, 22,737 residents have been completely vaccinated and 24,676 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 51.53% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Lyon County, 21,922 residents have been completely vaccinated and 24,931 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 43.73% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Storey County, 663 residents have been completely vaccinated and 739 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 16.2% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing For Those With Symptoms Or Who Have Been Exposed

CCHHS will be hosting COVID-19 testing events throughout the Quad-County Region. These events are for those who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or who were exposed to someone with COVID-19. Tests are available on a first come, first serve basis; no appointments or pre-registration needed.

CCHHS is resuming testing at our building in Cason City. Testing is for those who are experiencing symptoms and will take place one day a week, by appointment only!
