Faith & Insight: Do not grow weary or lose heart

Have you been watching the Olympics? Our family has been enjoying the whole experience! As I watch, I keep remembering that in the Bible, the Christian life is often compared to an athletic event.
Commitment, discipline, focus and self control are essential as we eye the everlasting prize (1 Corinthians 9:25-27).
In the games, as well as in life, there are rules to be followed (2 Tim 2:5).
This year, there are few observers in the stadium but hundreds of millions around the world. There are countless generations of godly souls watching and encouraging us in our race here on earth. (Hebrews 12:1)
Many run regularly in a sweat suit and ankle weights. On race day, all the training equipment is laid aside. Our heavenly father, through the forgiveness of our sins, enables us to run and endure as we keep our eyes fixed, not on the finish line, but on Jesus himself who already ran the race and encourages us to not grow weary or lose heart! (Hebrews 12:1-3)
May God continue to bless us with realization that he is with us, and it’s not a game!
Psalm 20:5 We will sing for joy over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.
1 Corinthians 15:57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our lord Jesus Christ.
