Nevada law enforcement agencies are joining forces this month to reduce vehicle versus pedestrian fatalities.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah DeGoey said between Aug. 9 and 25, they will be issuing citations to motorists and pedestrians who violate traffic safety laws.
She said between 2014 and 2018, 387 pedestrians died on Nevada roadways.
The problem isn’t just drivers not paying attention. Many times it’s the pedestrian who commits the violation and gets hit. The Joining Forces team is urging pedestrians and drivers alike to “be aware of each other.”
“Whether you are in a vehicle or on foot, stay alert and safely share the road,” she said.
