Tom Riggins: Hype and hypocrisy

We apparently have two pandemics, one for the COVID virus and one for fear. Mask. Don’t mask. Get vaccinated. Get vaccinated and you won’t need to wear a mask. Oops, vaccinated people must wear masks too. You must obey. Now spin around and clap like a seal. No wonder no one trusts the government on this.
Don’t forget Fauci and his constant changes. Here are a few. In March 2020, he said “People should not be walking around with a mask. It is not providing the perfect protection that people think it is.” In April 2020, he said everyone should wear a mask. In January 2021, he said double masking in best. In May 2021 he said you don’t need masks outdoors. In May 2021 he said wearing masks outside was necessary. Need I go on?
On the subject of masks, go to the CDC website and type “mask effectiveness” in their search bar. You will get numerous results. The CDC has yet to publish a credible study that shows masks curbing viral spread, but they recommend it anyway. Why? To perpetrate fear? It has gotten so ludicrous that the head of the National Institute of Health (NIH) suggested wearing masks at home so your children aren’t exposed. He rather lamely walked that back after a huge backlash, but he meant to say what he said.
On the issue of children, on the CDC website as of July 23, 2021, there have been 401 U.S. children under 18 that have died with COVID. They haven’t bothered to report how many of those died of COVID, but no matter. The 2020 census puts U.S. population at 332,987,277 of which 22.3 percent are under 18. That means 74,256,151 are under 18. Dividing that into 401 deaths results in 0.00000054 percent. That is less than one-millionth of one percent. And for that school children must wear masks, despite attendant other risks such as lowered oxygen intake.
It is estimated that 120 million people have acquired natural immunity from having recovered from COVID. That is being ignored in favor of vaccines. An Epoch Times article reprinted from Mercola.com says from data-driven studies that viruses mutate. When they mutate around vaccines that do not provide total immunity, such as the modified live virus COVID vaccine, the mutations are more virulent and more dangerous than mutations around natural immunity. It also suggests that immunity to the SARS virus of the 2000’s results in partial immunity to COVID. I suggest reading the article titled “Will COVID-19 Vaccines drive Mutated Variants?”
Yet the big push is for vaccinations. Why? Who benefits financially? Never mind, not a question that should be asked. If you don’t comply you will be denigrated, shamed, and possibly ostracized. The government has spent nine billion dollars to develop the vaccine. The drug companies spent nothing. The drug has cost the government another $4.75 billion to make it free.
The vaccines are probably as effective as any other vaccine. Yet alternative preventions, such as chloroquine and Vitamin D, are ignored or often banned. Chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine combined with the antibiotic Erythromycin, has been proven to be a nearly total success as a cure. This treatment is about $10 plus doctor visit. But shame on you to suggest this. Fauci in 2005 wrote an article in Virology Journal, the publication for the NIH, that “Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of the SARS coronavirus infection and spread.” News flash, COVID is a SARS coronavirus. European studies confirmed the effectiveness. So why the flip flop, little Munchkin? Money?
Travelers into the U.S. now must show proof of vaccination. Unless, of course, you cross the southern border illegally. Then, not only are you not required to be vaccinated, but the government will distribute you across the country, apparently to make sure you both vote and boost the COVID case count.
Many states and cities are imposing mask mandates again. And again, leaders are caught ignoring their own mandates. “Mandate for thee but not for me” seems to be the order of the day. Obama held large birthday gathering despite bans on large groups. And states that have banned masking are under intense pressure from the left. More hype and hypocrisy.
