Wildlife specialist Matt Maples will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Carson City meeting Tuesday, Aug. 17 at noon in the Grand Ballroom at the Brewery Arts Center.
The public is invited to attend the presentation and is also welcome to purchase lunch.
Maples works for the Nevada Department of Wildlife. His current role in NDOW’s habitat division includes managing the water development and mining programs. He plans to discuss the agency’s water development program which works to improve natural water sources, such as springs, to ensure wildlife have a reliable source of water, especially in areas where water is a limiting factor.
“I will also talk about NDOW’s recent emergency water hauling efforts in Southern Nevada to offset severe drought conditions and ensure bighorn sheep have sufficient water,” he said. “We have a long and successful history of working with local sportsman-conservation groups that provide additional funding and volunteers to help to help our agency with ongoing projects.”
Maples also plans to talk about volunteer opportunities within the organization.
