8 COVID-19 deaths reported in Quad County area

Carson City Health and Human Services reported eight deaths, 495 new cases, and 202 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region for Aug. 12-18.

This brings the total number of cases to 14,769, with 13,420 recoveries and 243 deaths; 1,106 cases remain active.

Carson City had 1 death, 161 new cases, and 57 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 25 new cases per day with a 17.1% test positivity rate.

Douglas County had 1 death, 133 new cases, and 41 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 14 new cases per day with a 20.0% test positivity rate.

Lyon County had 5 deaths, 197 new cases, and 100 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 22 new cases per day with a 28.1% test positivity rate.

Storey County had 1 death, 4 new cases, and 4 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 15.4% test positivity rate.

 COVID-19 Vaccination Update

 As of August 18, 2021, approximately 175,177 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 69,759 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 76,484 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 85,043 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.

In Carson City, 29,800 residents have been completely vaccinated and 32,927 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 59.6% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Douglas County, 23,110 residents have been completely vaccinated and 25,189 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 52.4% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Lyon County, 22,887 residents have been completely vaccinated and 26,164 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 45.7% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Storey County, 687 residents have been completely vaccinated and 763 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 16.8% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing For Those With Symptoms Or Who Have Been Exposed

CCHHS will be hosting COVID-19 testing events throughout the Quad-County Region. Tests are available free of charge, on a first come, first serve basis; no appointments or pre-registration needed.
