The Governor’s Office of Economic Development has awarded $500,000 to the City of Wells and Audacity Institute to provide grants to small rural businesses impacted by COVID-19.
The grants will be distributed through the Rural Business Assistance (RuBA) program. It will provide up to $25,000 to existing and new businesses.
Danielle Rees of Audacity Institute said that organization will provide mentoring and business training along with support from other rural Nevada business owners.
The money is part of a CARES Act grant. GOED’s Rural Development Director Patty Herzog said the goal is to help those businesses provide permanent jobs and essential support to entrepreneurs in rural Nevada. Wells City Manager Jolene Supp said training for small business owners is badly needed to ensure long term sustainability and success.
Online applications will be accepted at www.RuBaNV.com through Sept. 3. Application assistance is available at 775-470-7789 in Spanish and English.
