Nevada’s jobless rate fell another tenth in July to 7.7 percent and is now nearly 9 percent lower than it was in July 2020.
The rate was just 5.3 percent in Carson City and 4.9 percent in Reno-Sparks.
But the statewide number is driven by the 9.4 percent rate in the Las Vegas Metropolitan reporting area. Clark County’s rate is the highest in Nevada. However, July’s rate is two-tenths lower than it was in June.
Initial claims for unemployment benefits also continued to trend downward with just 9,796 people filing in July.
Statewide, there were 127,211 people looking for work, 106,086 of them in the Las Vegas area compared to just 12,983 jobless in the Reno area and 1,415 in Carson City.
Eureka County had the lowest reported jobless rate at just 3.2 percent.
