First prize is $15 in cash. Second is a waffle and sandwich toaster by Sierra Pacific Power Co.

Part of a resolution passed by the Warren Engine Company: “Resolved, That as citizens of Carson City, having the future prosperity and best interests of said city in view, we feel that in the disbanding of the late Curry Engine Company No. 2, the community at large have suffered a great loss, and the fire department of Carson City has received a flow from the effects of which it will take years to recover.”

The trial of thirteen men charged with mobbing a negro named Ellis was held in Pioche last week. The defendants were charged with assault with intent to kill. The jury found seven of the defendants guilty of assault and battery and five of them not guilty. Judge Talbot, who presided, scored the jury for not finding all of the defendants guilty as charged.

The cost of one can garbage collection in Carson City is going to increase nearly 50 percent of the suggested increase by city garbage collector Mr. Caramella. Caramella appeared before the city fathers to request a hike of $1.25 to $1.75 for one can.
