In its first home game of the season, the Oasis Academy boys basketball team had no issues dispatching enCompass Academy (Reno), 59-19, last Wednesday at the city-county gym.
The Bighorns raced to a double-digit lead early, outscoring the Explorers 15-3 in the first quarter. Oasis Academy posted double-digits in the next two quarters while the defense allowed no more than eight points in a single quarter (second).
Senior Jacob Pike led the Bighorns with a double-double after scoring 25 points on 10-of-15 attempts from the field and pulling down 12 rebounds, including 10 defensive. Senior Trevor Halloran finished with 15 points and six assists, and junior Casamaro White added seven points. Halloran recorded eight rebounds, White had seven and freshman Fenn Mackedon added six. Senior Gabriel Romero, Halloran and Pike each had three steals.

Tylie Norcutt led Oasis Academy in scoring with 10 points, Jaylee McEwen added eight, and Taylynn Maynez and Gabriel Hockenberry-Grimes each had six.
Both Bighorns teams travel today to Excel Christian in Sparks before competing in a two-day tournament at Round Mountain this weekend. The girls play at 5 p.m. today followed by the boys at 6:30.
Oasis Academy visits Coral Academy in Reno on Tuesday for the Battle of the Ore Cart, which the Bighorns have won every year since its inception.
