The Greenwave basketball teams saw mixed results after jumping back into Northern 3A play last week.
The Lady Wave won two-of-three against 3A West foes with the lone loss coming to the defending state champion, Truckee.
Fallon defeated Sparks, 51-11, last Wednesday in Sparks before beating Wooster, 35-34, at the Elmo Dericco Gymnasium on Friday. Truckee prevented the sweep with a 35-23 win on Saturday in Truckee.
Against the Railroaders, Shaylee Coldwell led Fallon in scoring with 11 points, and Cassie Edgmon and Liliana Bettencourt each had 10. Sydney Jarrett scored eight points. Coldwell, Bettencourt and Zoey Jarrett each pulled down five rebounds, and Edgmon and Sydney Jarrett each added three boards and seven steals. Coldwell also had five assists and Zoey Jarrett had four.
The most exciting game of the week was Friday’s one-point win over Wooster when Caldwell hit a pair of free throws with less than 2 seconds left in the game.
Edgmon led the scoring attack with 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and eight rebounds. Zoey Jarrett had five rebounds, and Sydney Jarrett and Addison Smith each added four.
The Fallon boys picked up two wins after defeating Sparks, 59-43, in Fallon on Wednesday and Truckee, 46-39, on the road on Saturday. The Greenwave, though, fell to Wooster, 51-43, on Friday.
Three players scored in double figures against the Railroaders on Wednesday with Tyler Austin leading the way with 18 points. Collin Brun scored 13 points and Kanigh Snyder added 12 to go with 11 rebounds for a double-double. Jace Nelson recorded nine rebounds and five blocked shots, while Brun had six rebounds. Brady Alves led the team in steals with six.
Brun led the team in scoring with nine points against Wooster, and Alves, who sunk two 3-pointers, and Austin each had eight. Nelson led the team with nine rebounds, Snyder had seven, and Austin and Brun each had six. Nelson also had four steals.
Alves, who made three 3-pointers, posted a team-high 12 points in the win over Truckee, Austin added 10, and Nelson, Brun and Snyder each had seven. Snyder led the team with nine rebounds, and Alves and Nelson each had five. Austin and Alves each recorded four steals, and Brun had four assists.
Both Fallon’s basketball teams face North Valleys on Thursday and Hug on Saturday at the Elmo Dericco Gymnasium to close out the 3A West portion of the schedule.
