Steven Moon (170 pounds) placed fifth after reaching the semifinals to lead the Greenwave, who competed in last weekend’s Reno Tournament of Champions.
In the semifinals, Moon was pinned by Fernley’s Brandon Monteiro in the third period. Moon, though, pinned Yerington’s Tyler Baumback, Dayton’s Diego Ibarra Lopez and Battle Mountain’s Kayden Kelly to advance. After falling to Spanish Springs’ Garytt Ostrander in the consolation semifinal, Moon decisioned Lowry’s Jhett Harber, 9-8, to finish fifth.
Jaiden McFadden (126) pinned Tonopah’s Mitchell Miller in the second round after a bye before falling to Carson’s Anthony Garrobo in the quarterfinal and Spanish Springs’ Abner Lopez in the consolation’s fourth round.
Andrew Douglas (132) dropped his first bout to Lowry’s Wade Mori before pinning Coral Academy’s Aron Alvarez in the second period of the consolation’s second round. Eureka’s Quinn Filippini pinned Douglas in the following match.
Manuel Karaway (138) decisioned Fernley’s Ruby Barrett-Reese in the consolation after falling to Lowry’s William DeLong. Karaway, though, fell to Reed’s Damien Taylor in the second period of the third round of consolation.
Lucas Prinz (138) lost both of his bouts to Spanish Springs’ Dominic Ruiz and Elko’s Blaze Jones. Quentin Hornbeak (145) lost both of his bouts by fall to Reed’s Liam Malley and Lowry’s Anthony Gonzalez. Everdmar Garcia (152) lost his two bouts by fall to Elko’s Jesston Tkach and Carson’s Jonethen Barnes-Hurt.
Isiah Diaz (145) won two straight to reach the quarterfinals after pinning Wells’ Thomas French and major-decisioning Reed’s Jacob Murdock, 16-8. Lowry’s Jesse Hawkins pinned Diaz in the second period and teammate Asher Garner pinned Diaz in the consolation.
Caden McKnight (152) fell in his opener to Elko’s Kaden Haase before scoring an injury-default win over Lowry’s Damon Fetty. Reed’s Anthony Rodriguez defeated McKnight, 8-2, in the consolation’s third round.
Macray O`Neill (152) advanced to the quarters after a fall over Fernley’s Harley Denison and 8-5 decision over Reno’s Graham Lemmons. O’Neill, though, fell to Yerington’s Jonah Eriksen to drop into the consolation where he fell to Wooster’s Carlos Lopez Garibaldo in the third period.
Xavier Capton (170) fell to Harber in the quarterfinals after pinning Coral Academy’s Steininger in the first period. Ostrander pinned Capton in the second period of the consolation’s fourth round.
Colton Blankenship (195) pinned Yerington’s Aiden Nelson in the first period before falling to Reno’s Adam Clawson in the quarterfinals. Galena’s Heath Doering pinned Blankenship in the second period.


Reno Tournament of Champions
Only two wrestlers won a match in arguably the toughest tournament in the country.
McKnight and Garcia each won on Friday before falling in their remaining bouts.
After a forfeit victory, McKnight (152) pinned Chicos Darian Cox with 1:16 left in the first period. McKnight, though, fell in his next two bouts against De La Salle’s Gavin Fernandez and Tuttle’s Hayden Brown. Garcia (152) won his first, a 7-2 decision over Esperanza’s Ethan Longwith before falling to Temecula Valley’s Mark Takara and College Park’s Kolten Oborny.
McFadden (126), Prinz (138), Douglas (138), Diaz (145), O’Neill (160), Moon (160), Capton (170) and Blankenship (195) each lost their only two bouts.
