The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is overjoyed with the holiday spirit that has flooded into its Carson City and Carson Valley Clubhouses this season. At a time when kids need more support than ever before, the community and donors have opened their hearts in big ways as we close out 2021.
Robert Crowell’s Legacy
An anonymous donation of $50,000, in memory of late Mayor Robert Crowell, was given to BGCWN this month to support our arts, STEM and literacy programs.
End of Year Giving
Carson Valley residents Brenda and Raymond Robertson, along with an anonymous donor, have pledged to match any donations received during November and December up to $25,000.
Sweatshirts for Youth
This year, East Fork Fire Professionals, Southwest Gas, Ropers Heating and Air, and Carson Dermatology are sponsors for sweatshirts, which were given to each child at the Clubs as a warm holiday gift.
Adopting our Families
Rice Street Tattoo, Lumos & Associates, Michaels Cycleworks, Blanchard, Krasner & French Law Firm and friends of the Smith Family are spreading Christmas cheer by providing much needed clothing, food and presents for our families who need it the most.
Corporate Giving
Walmart has donated $12,000 to BGCWN, and continues to help us with supplies for the Clubs, and the Arby’s Foundation has donated $26,000 to support our Healthy Habits programs.
2022 is Looking Up
Momentum from community donors continues into 2022, as well. The Share Winter Foundation is providing snowboard and ski lessons at Palisades Tahoe for as many as 40 BGCWN teens in the new year. BGCWN will also launch a Youth of the Month recognition program which has received support from community sponsors like Dutch Bros. Coffee, Carson Valley Inn, Coffee on Main in Minden, American Family Insurance, Mason Electric, Petersen Plumbing, Western Nevada Supply, Carson City Orthodontics, Advo Wealth, Dr. Andrea Weed, Clickbond and Edward Jones - John Dooley.
A resounding “Thank You” to these generous donors, and to everyone who has helped make this holiday extra special for our youth.
