Sierra Lutheran to preview renderings for new facilities at open house
Sierra Lutheran High School will host an open house Feb. 16 to announce expansion plans for a two-story, multi-use building it plans to open in the next 18 months.
Sierra Lutheran High School will host an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 16 for prospective families interested in learning more about the school and its plans for expansion. Sierra Lutheran, a college preparatory high school located in Carson City that, on average, matriculates more than 90 percent of its students to college each year, will host an on-campus opportunity for up to 50 individuals to learn what has made SLHS one of the top private high schools in the state, according to Niche.com. The open house will include information around growing academic opportunities, extracurricular activities, campus life and culture, college and career planning services, and a preview of new facilities the school plans to build. “Sierra Lutheran has been blessed to introduce a number of dynamic educational offerings for our students over the past year,” Executive Director Brian Underwood said in a news release. “And we are very excited to continue that momentum by introducing new facilities to further support academic and extracurricular advancement.” In anticipation of a phased campus master plan expansion, Sierra Lutheran will be sharing renderings of proposed facility enhancements, including the development of a new, two-story multi-use building the school plans to open in the next 18 months to support a variety of campus initiatives. “Over the past year and a half, Sierra Lutheran has undergone a thoughtful process to census stakeholders regarding the development of a case for support for a multi-phased campus development plan to support the school’s strategic plan for student services,” Underwood explained. “The results showed enthusiastic support for that plan, which is now in motion to develop a 13,000-square-foot, multi-use addition to our existing campus to benefit both the SLHS community, as well as the community at large.” Featured in the forthcoming addition will be new classrooms, including a new science lab, multi-use space, and an Academic Learning Center to support local students with academic and social support services. “It’s a great time to be a Falcon, and a member of the local community, with new services and facilities coming online,” Underwood said. “We’re excited to partner with the community, and we look forward to sharing that vision at our open house.” To reserve space or for information, email bunderwood@slhs.com. Sierra Lutheran High School is located at 3601 Romans Road in Carson City.
