The Carson City Library has installed self-check lockers outside the front doors of the library. While the library remains closed amid the extended statewide pause, library customers can pick up library materials after hours and when curbside services aren’t available. The book locker is a storage and holds management system. There are approximately 30 lockers available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The simple interface offers card reading and touchscreen to access the lockers with ease. To place a hold for a locker, visit the library’s online catalog. “With the book locker, we’ll pull the requested items and put them in a locker for their pickup, at their convenience day or night,” said Library Director Tod Colegrove in a news release. Materials can be requested online or by phone, and no reservation to pick up the items is required. Library customers can simply scan their library card to open the locker and collect their requested items. Other library programs include: Curbside Pickup: Place a hold on a book, movie, music, or more through the library catalog and then schedule a curbside pickup time by contacting our librarians by email at curbside@carsoncitylibrary.org or by phone at 775-283-7590. For current curbside pick-up appointments, visit online. For the safety of our staff, masks are required when picking up materials curbside. Digital Resources – E-Books and More: Ebooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, streaming movies, educational videos and more are available 24/7 through the CarsonCityLibrary.org website by accessing our digital resources including the Libby and OverDrive catalogs. Other E-Resources and information may be found online. Virtual Programs: While in-person events are on hold, the library offers a range of virtual programming held via Zoom and recorded on YouTube.
