The number of new virus cases, statewide hospitalizations and the test positivity rate all continue to decrease in Nevada.
As of Monday, the 14-day rolling average of new cases dropped to just 756. That is far fewer than the peak a month or so back when more than 3,000 new daily cases were being reported.
On top of that, total hospitalizations also dipped below the 1,000 mark to 964 as of Monday with just 259 people in intensive care units because of the virus.
Finally, the positivity rate of those people being tested is now 15.5 percent. While that is still about double the 8 percent goal the state would like to see, it’s significantly less than the more than 22 percent Nevada was seeing.
There were 15 deaths reported Monday but that too is a significant improvement from the nearly 40 a day dying at the start of January. A total of 4,522 people have now died from COVID in Nevada.
Nevada has now confirmed a total of 284,590 cases of the virus, the vast majority of them in Clark County, which is home to almost three-quarters of Nevadans. Of those new cases, 621 were in Clark County where the positivity rate is still 17.1 percent. In all, 12 of the 17 deaths reported Monday were in Clark.
Carson City, by contrast, reported just eight new cases Monday and now has 5,755 total cases. The capital has 10 hospitalizations but no new deaths.
Carson has suffered a total of 108 deaths from the virus. But Carson’s positivity rate is falling and, at 8.8 percent, approaching the magic 8 percent number health officials want to see.
Churchill County has a total of 49 deaths thus far but none reported Monday and a positivity rate of 11.1 percent, Total cases are at 1,846.
Washoe too has a positivity rate of 11.1percent, also down significantly from a month ago. Washoe reported 90 new infections Monday and has, since last March, a total of 42,016 cases and 616 deaths.
Finally, Douglas County has suffered just 29 deaths so far. No new deaths reported Monday.  Douglas has suffered 4,880 cases o f the virus so far but just four new cases Monday. That county’s positivity rate is 12.4 percent.
