RENO — Skin Cancer Dermatology Institute is opening a new office in late 2021 and has chosen Shaheen Beauchamp Builders as the general contractor for the almost 8,500 square foot building in the Monte Vista Development located in northwest Reno.

The new building will help meet a large demand for dermatological health care in Northern Nevada and will offer a wide range of services and treatments that includes general dermatology, skin cancer treatment and a variety of cosmetic services.

“The new building will serve as our fourth office in the Reno area and is the second building we have worked with Shaheen Beauchamp Builders to complete,” said Dr. Bret Blackhart, board-certified dermatologist with Skin Cancer Dermatology Institute. “Years ago, we worked with them to build our Carson City office. They were very professional, honest and gave us realistic estimates on the cost and timeframe, that is why we are happy to be working with them again.”

The building will take advantage of the land’s sloped topography by including a lower level that will house a majority of the building’s mechanical equipment, clearing up space on the first floor.

“We designed the building to include a lobby with many north-facing windows,” said Jeff Frame, architect with Frame Architecture. “North light is consistent throughout the day and should offer a really nice environment for patients and employees. We also spent some extra time with site design. The volume of patients will be high, so we wanted to make sure to give them plenty of access and efficient parking.”

The design team also includes Summit Engineering as civil engineer consultant, CFBR as structural engineering consultant, EEI as mechanical engineering consultant, and JP Engineering as electrical engineering consultant.

“We value our long-term relationships with clients and our building partners in the Northern Nevada region,” said Mark Beauchamp, co-founder of Shaheen Beauchamp Builders. “Those relationships go a long way in allowing us to work on projects that provide needed services for the communities we live in.”
