Me and Ow here. Watson has graciously allowed us to write this week’s column. It makes sense, because he is a dog and we are cats. Obviously, we know more about cats than he does. Lately, we have been discussing the latest study out of Australia on cat personalities.

Those clever Aussie’s have done research on how many factors depict personality in cats and what traits are parts of each personality. It turns out that they were able to identify 52 personality traits and five basic feline personalities.

The first personality is neuroticism. These cats are shy, insecure, anxious, and fearful of people. If you are a sensitive person who enjoys a challenge, this cat will be your soul mate when they bond with you.

The second personality is impulsiveness. This cat is erratic, impulsive, and distractible. Impulsive cats are the perfect playmate for someone who enjoys playing with his cat.

The third personality is extroversion. Cats that are extroverts are active, vigilant, curious, decisive, inventive, and smart. OK, if you are looking for a smarty cat be forewarned, because this cat will invent in a moment new ways to outsmart you.

The fourth personality is agreeableness. These cats are friendly to people, affectionate, gentle, and playful. Mostly they become beloved family cats that curl up in anyone’s lap. If you need a bed partner, they will be there to crowd you out of your warm spot.
The final personality is dominance. This type of cat is the boss, bully, and ruler of your home. If you like having an only child who rules the roost, this is the cat for you.

We were just trying to decide which type of personalities we are. After consideration, we decided we are extroverts. Most of all we are beloved, even if we are the “brat cats.” Do you fit your cat’s personality? We certainly hope so!
