Downtown is going to be lined with classic cars this weekend, stretching from Robinson to Fifth along Carson St. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

But the fourth annual Downtown Revival Car Show, hosted by Order of the Eastern Star Esther chapter 3, won’t be just any old car show. Co-Chairs Sharon and Jim Hoff have organized a pancake breakfast, DJ, poker walk, and scavenger hunt to accompany the competition.

“We wanted to involve the community as much as we could,” Sharon Hoff told the Appeal. “It’s just a good family event.”

Part of the community involvement aspect for the Hoffs has been organizing local judges. U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei, Mayor Lori Bagwell, Chamber of Commerce Director Ronni Hannaman, and more have all accepted invitations to judge at the show. Each will hand out their own trophy to their favorite car  — altogether, they’ll be awarding 25 trophies.

Kids from the Boys and Girls Club also will hand out ribbons to their favorite cars. The Hoffs joked that those ribbons are often more coveted than trophies from the dignitaries.

With 200 pre-registrants already lined up to go, the Hoffs are expecting 300-400 total cars, combined with day-of entries. That’s a big increase from their first show, which featured 89 cars.

Approximately 75 percent of the proceeds will be split between Carson City Food for Thought and the Veterans’ Guest House. The rest of the money will go toward paying for show-related expenses.

Though pre-registration is closed, car owners who would like to enter their own vehicle can show up as early as 5 a.m. day-of and participate for $40.
