Lyon County will revisit the naming of Old Dayton Valley Road to Pres. Trump Way after a possible Open Meeting Law violation.

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners will address the situation on July 15. On July 1, the commission voted 4-1 to start the process of renaming a street in Dayton.

“Lyon County has received a number of concerns that the Board of Commissioners may be in violation of the Open Meeting Law as the agenda language was not specific to what street would be affected or what the proposed name would be,” a press release said. “The item is being brought back to address any Open Meeting Law concerns and notify the citizens of Lyon County of the proposed name change. Staff is currently working on an application and verifying associated costs.”

If the board approves the action, then the Planning Department will file a county-initiated street name change application and property owners would be notified of the next steps and meeting time of the Lyon County Planning Commission, which also must approve the change.

Trump carried Lyon County by a 12,441-vote margin over Democrat Joe Biden out of 39,238 votes cast in the presidential race.
