Gov. Steve Sisolak and legislative leadership Friday named the members of a committee that will study the idea of creating Innovation Zones.
Sisolak said the idea is to create special zones to attract advanced technology industries to Nevada.
They would be zones created within existing counties that would operate as their own independent governments. The purpose for the study committee is to explore and analyze the idea and report its findings to the 2023 Legislature and governor.
The members of the panel are Sens. Roberta Lange and Mo Denis, both Democrats, and James Settelmeyer, Republican, Assembly members Teresa Benitez Thompson and Howard Watts, Democrats and P.K. O’Neill, Republican.
Its first meeting will be Aug. 12.
