UPDATE:
After being cancelled last year due to the pandemic, Octane Fest is roaring back in 2021.
The two-day motorsports event returns to the Lahontan Valley this weekend with several events, including demo derbies.
Admission is free.
Octane Fest will kick off on Friday at 6 p.m. at Rattlesnake Raceway followed by a second day of racing at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Circle track races for all classes, tuff trucks, demolition and powder puff derbies, and side by side highlight Friday night’s events. Saturday’s lineup features circle track races, tuff trucks contact race, demo derby, V6 figure eight race and ATV races.
The tuff trucks races including four-, six- and eight-cylinder classes on Friday and mixed on Saturday.
The demo derby on Friday is for four-cylinder vehicles only followed by the power puff derby, which features minivans with female drivers only. Saturday’s demo derby includes any surviving car from derbies our figure eight race.
Also occurring this weekend is drag racing at Top Gun Raceway.
The NHRA National Open stars on Thursday and runs through Sunday. Gates open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
