UPDATE, 5:43 p.m.
The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reports on its Twitter account that I-580 northbound at Mt. Rose Highway is fully open; there are traffic controls southbound. Old 395 is open to center lane traffic only.
The Mt. Rose highway between Wedge Parkway and I-580 westbound is fully open while eastbound remains closed.

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District estimates containment of the Petrilla Fire at 10-15 percent with crews protecting the geothermal plant in south Reno.

UPDATE, 4:34 p.m.
The Carson City Fire Department says on its Twitter account that Fuji Park Fairgrounds at 601 Old Clear Creek Road is a shelter for large animals and livestock being evacuated from the Petrilla Fire.
CCFD also said Battalion 50, Chief 502, and the Capital City Handcrew are responding to a mutual aid request for the fire in Pleasant Valley.

I-580 is closed at Eastlake Boulevard, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation Twitter account.

INITIAL POST
A fire burning in Pleasant Valley south of Reno closed Old U.S. 395 and Interstate 580 on Wednesday afternoon, according to multiple sources.
The Petrilla Fire has burned at least 300 acres, according to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.
Evacuations are in affect, including for Cheyenne Drive. Damonte Ranch High School is serving as the evacuation center. Officials initially announced Galena High as the evacuation center.

I-580 was closed between the Old 395 exit in northern Washoe Valley and the Mount Rose highway in Reno.
Two Nevada Army Guard helicopters and one Nevada Air Guard fire truck have been activated to the fire, according to the Nevada National Guard.
