International Yoga Day celebrates the physical and spiritual benefits yoga brings to people around the world. Partnership Carson City is inviting the community to celebrate International Yoga Day by taking the yoga mats outside for a special Monday Wellness Yoga session in the park Monday, June 21, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at John Mankins Park, 3051 Oak Ridge Drive.
“Our goal with this International Yoga Day celebration is to bring our community together to attain a moment of peace and mindfulness,” said Hannah McDonald, executive director of Partnership Carson City. “We hope this celebration showcases the benefits of regular yoga practice and the increased benefits it brings.”
This year’s International Yoga Day theme focuses on “yoga for well-being,” which is why Partnership Carson City is inviting everyone to spend time in fresh air, get grounded and participate in this special Wellness Yoga outdoor session.
Participants should wear comfortable clothes. Yoga mats, snacks and refreshments are provided free of charge. Wellness Yoga resumes at the Partnership Carson City office Monday, June 28. Wellness Yoga is taught by independent contractor Adria White.
To foster a healthy community through education, collaboration and engagement of its citizens, Partnership Carson City regularly offers free yoga each Monday. The weekly Wellness Yoga classes take place at 5:30 p.m. at Partnership Carson City, 1925 N. Carson St.
All virtual yoga sessions from the last year are available on Partnership Carson City’s website, PCCCarson.org or call 775-841-4730.
