Carson Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of an elderly man in his apartment at the Senator Apartments who apparently burned to death.

Carson Sheriff Ken Furlong said the victim, who was in his 70s and lived alone, may have had a serious medical event, apparently falling forward onto his stove. His clothes caught fire and he died on the floor of the apartment.

Furlong said an apartment employee called 911at 2:30 p.m., after seeing smoke coming from the apartment. He said the strange thing is that the only thing burned was the victim and his clothing.
He said investigators won’t know what happened until the medical examination and investigation Thursday.

“It’s weird,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”
