Carson City will close Sonoma Park to rehabilitate the heavily used lawn areas, according to a news release.
City staff will be reseeding thin areas and applying soil amendment and the park will be closed March 22 through April 13 to allow the new grass seed to properly germinate and thrive.
Beginning April 19, Sonoma Park will be closed every Monday morning until noon through early November for maintenance. The morning closure is necessary as it provides the opportunity for staff to mow and conduct maintenance tasks while ensuring the safety of park users.
Sonoma Park gates will be locked weekly at dusk on Sunday evenings and the park will reopen when weekly maintenance procedures are completed.
