The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation says the American Rescue Plan Act extends regular unemployment and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance programs through the week ending Sept. 4.
DETR Director Elisa Cafferata said the positive news is the act was passed before those programs expired so none of the claims have to be closed and then restarted.
But she said there may be some delay in implementing the new extensions of benefits for some claimants. DETR is awaiting guidance from the federal Department of Labor and Cafferata pointed out that when the last stimulus package passed it took three weeks to get guidance on how to implement the extended programs.
