The Carson City School District’s Work-based Learning department will host a Virtual Career Fair, via Zoom and other virtual platforms from 9:40 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday.
The virtual meeting(s) will consist of six 20-minute sessions in which a dozen or more business and college professionals (each session) will share expertise and career pathway options.
The virtual career fair is designed to provide Carson High, Pioneer High, Carson Middle, Eagle Valley Middle School students and soon-to-be high school graduates with job and career exploration opportunities. The event also will help students connect what they are learning in the classroom to “real world” work.
Participants will also discover the skills they’ll need to be a successful employee, network and meet people and see the jobs or education opportunities available after graduation. Students also will learn how to prepare for a job interview and build a resume.
To attend the Virtual Career Fair, students should first watch the pre-meeting video and then review the virtual student binder. The virtual student binder will be loaded on each student’s Chromebook. Students are invited to read the descriptions and choose which session they wish to attend. If they want to attend two sessions within the same block of time, they are encouraged to attend the first 20-minute session and then the second 20-minute session. Each presenter will deliver their presentation twice in a block of time.
