The community is invited to the fifth annual Nowruz “New Year” Celebration Feast to benefit Veterans Healing Camp from 5-10 p.m. on March 27 at the Casino Fandango Grand Ballroom in Carson City. Invite or sponsor a veteran at your table to this casual and festive fundraiser that features great food, live music, dancing, silent auction and door prize. Nowruz is the ancient Persian New Year celebrated since 1700 B.C. that occurs on the first day of spring at the vernal equinox. Nowruz it is the time to get together with friends and family, eat, drink, and celebrate life together. The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with fun and fellowship as we honor our Veterans for their service. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. followed by a short slideshow about the growth and future of the Veterans Healing Camp. The celebration will really heat up with the traditional “fire jump” outside. The fire jump is symbolism of to forgive and forget and put the past behind, to invite the health, happiness, and prosperity as the jump over the fire new life, new beginnings. Sean Cummings will play the theme songs for all services of the military on bagpipe as we celebrate the New Year by releasing all the negative events from last year and using the energy of the fires to fuel rebirth and new life. The party continues with live music and dancing by Southbound Train. There will also be a silent auction and a door prize drawing. The ticket donation is $40 and $10 for children.
