Greenwave track and field wins 3-team meet

The Greenwave hosted its first meet of the season on Saturday at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex with the Lady Wave winning the three-team event and the Fallon boys tying for first.

The girls team won with 107.5 points over Fernley’s 96 and Lowry’s 49.5. Fallon’s boys team tied Lowry at 90.5 and Fernley was third at 71.

Fallon travels to Dayton on Saturday before hosting the Northern 3A regional meet on May 21.

The following are the top-10 finishes from both the boys and girls divisions.

Sprints
Boys: Jose Alcaraz-Avalos won the 100-meter dash in 12.08 seconds, a personal best, and Ruben Sanchez followed in second at 12.12. Brian Sanchez-Rehkop was fourth at 12.17 and Ethan Tarner finished fifth at 12.31. Luke Sorensen won the 200 in 24.79, a personal best, and Tarner was third at 25.48. Jordan DeAloia finished fifth at 26.17 followed by Trenton Chappell at 26.19. In the 400, DeAloia was second at 58.06 followed by James Calvert in third at 59.52, Quentin Dowler in fifth at 1:02.20 and Conner Lashley in seventh at 1:11.90.

Girls: Aisha Sharron won the 100 in 13.94 followed by Bianca Lopez in third at 14.15 and Danyelle Andrews in fifth at 14.50. Makayle Mathisen won the 200 in 27.99, Jessalyn Lewis was second in 28.72 and Lopez was fourth at 29.89 with all three times being personal bests. Zoey Brown finished second in the 400 at 1:12.04 and Lily Sandefer was fourth at 1:20.57.

Distance
Boys: Joseph Nuckolls finished fourth in the 800 at 2:31.33, followed by fifth-eighth place finishes by Cameron Christy (2:34.38), James Calvert (2:37.87), Edmond Allyn (2:38.08) and Quentin Dowler (2:46.62). Christy finished third in the 1600 at 5:27.62, Dowler was seventh at 5:42.39 and Allyn followed in eighth at 5:48.89. Christy took third in the 3200 in 12:11.07 and Allyn was seventh at 12:51.23.

Girls: Savanna Regli finished second in the 1600 in 6:19.83 followed by Brown in fourth at 6:39.85. Regli won the 3200 in 13:57.35.

Hurdles
Boys: Will Swisher won the 110 hurdles in 20.92 and placed second in the 300 hurdles at 50.38.

Girls: McCartney McAlexander won the 100 hurdles in 17.69, and Hailey Guerrero finished sixth in 19.84 followed by Michaella Pursley in seventh at 19.91. McAlexander also won the 300 hurdles in 52.95 and Pursley finished eighth in 1:02.83.

Relays
4x100: The boys team of Sanchez-Rehkop, Sanchez, Alcaraz-Avalos and Tarner won the race in 48.21. The girls team of Danyelle Andrews, Lopez, Mathisen and Sharron also won in 54.70.

4x200: The boys team of DeAloia, Sanchez, Nuckolls and Sorensen finished second in 1:43.88. The girls team of Aubrey Jaques, Lewis, Pursley and Mathisen finished second in 1:59.58.

4x400: The boys team of Sanchez-Rehkop, Calvert, Sorensen and Swisher took second in 3:58.70. The girls team of Brown, Mathisen, Lopez and Vera Vax finished second in 4:57.04.

Throws
Boys: DeAloia took second in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 11 inches, and Jacob Sorensen was seventh at 30-1.

Girls: Madeline Stephens won the shot put at 30-10 and was second in the discus at 95-3. Brienna McArthur finished seventh in the shot put at 21-5 followed by Lily Sandefer at 19-10. McArthur was seventh in the discus at 64-6.

Jumps
Boys: Tarner finished second in the high jump at 5-4 followed by Calvert at 5-2 and Alcaraz-Avalos at 4-10. Sanches was second in the long jump at 16-8.5 followed by Sanchez-Rehkop in fifth at 15-11.75. Matthew Neumann finished third in the triple jump at 25-7.5.

Girls: McAlexander was second in the high jump at 4-8, followed by Sharron and Hailey Guerrero in fifth at 4-4. Lewis won the long jump at 13-11.75, a personal best, and Sharron won the triple at 32-6.5. Andrews placed fifth in the long at 12-11 and Guerrero was seventh at 12-6. McAlexander finished second in the triple at 30-7, followed by Lewis in third at 28-3.5 and Vaz in ninth at 21-3.5.

Pole Vault
Boys: Sorensen won the event with a leap of 10 feet followed by Nuckolls in fourth at 7-6 and Allyn in fifth at 6-6.

Girls: Pursley won the event at 8 feet and Guerrero was fifth at 6-6.

GOLF: Wave golf finishes 5th in Fernley
The Greenwave boys golf team finished fifth out of six teams in last Tuesday’s tournament in Fernley.
Owen Palmer led the team with a 90 as Fallon scored 397. Fernley won the team event with a 348 total with one of its own, Isaac O’Neill winning the individual honors after shooting a 74.
Jayden Wassmuth finished with a 100 for Fallon, followed by Colton Tousignant at 103, Keaton Williams with a 104 and Ron Lee carding a 107. Ridgley Elmer finished with a 117.
The golf team ended the season on Tuesday in Winnemucca.
