Gov. Steve Sisolak said Thursday that a bill working its way through the Legislature will help make sure federal rental assistance gets to tenants and landlords.
He said throughout the pandemic, Nevada has prioritized efforts to help Nevadans stay in their homes by enacting an eviction moratorium.
That includes setting up rental assistance programs and working with the Supreme Court on an eviction mediation program.
But he extended the moratorium in March saying that would be the final extension.
With the end of the moratorium approaching, he said Assembly Bill 486 is designed to ensure federal assistance gets to tenants and landlords as well as providing an opportunity for eligible small landlords to apply for access and rent assistance directly.
He thanked lawmakers for bringing the legislation forward, saying it is critical.
