Natalyn Wakeling and Kai Miller were both Class 5A Northern Nevada regional champs, following their final meets of the season last week.
On Saturday, Wakeling took the top spot in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.77, crossing the line in front of Douglas’ Jessica James, who went on to win the girls 200-meter dash.
Wakeling’s time of 12.77 matched her qualifying time Tuesday, which was also the fastest time recorded that day on the Senator track in that event.
As a freshman in 2019, Wakeling took second in the 100-meter dash at regionals before taking seventh at the state meet.
Wakeling also ran in the 200-meter dash at regionals, taking third in 26.88, which was a personal record, per results.
The top four finishers in the girls 200-meter regional race in Northern Nevada were all juniors.
Carson High pole vaulter Kai Miller tied the stadium record Tuesday with a clearance of 15 feet, six inches.
Though he didn’t get a chance to compete at regionals last year due to the pandemic, Miller was sixth as a freshman in the regional pole vault event, clearing 11-6 successfully.
The clearance of 15-6 tied a stadium record at Carson High.
Miller also took second in the 110-meter hurdles race in 16.09, besting teammate William Ore, who was sixth.
Ore was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.64.
