After competing in three-to-four-team meets this season, the Greenwave track and field team hosted the season’s biggest meet on Friday.

The Northern 3A region converged in the Lahontan Valley for the regional championships at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex where Spring Creek won both the boys and girls divisions.

The Spartans won the boys division over Fernley, 162.5 to 91, while host Fallon finished seventh with 42. North Valleys finished third with 82 points followed by Dayton with 76 and Lowry with 56 to round out the top five.

Spring Creek’s girls team won 192-152.5 over Truckee while Dayton was third with 81 points followed by Fallon with 75.5 and South Tahoe with 65.
Elko did not travel due to the school’s closure with a rise in COVID-19 cases.

Competing against all teams in the region for the first time this season, the Greenwave won a pair of events in the girls division with junior Michaella Pursley taking the pole vault title and the 4x200-meter relay team winning by 0.62 seconds.
