Graduate Heidi Tapia waits for the start of Western Nevada College’s 2020 Parade of Graduates at the Fallon campus.
Final preparations are being made for Western Nevada College’s drive-through commencement ceremony on the Fallon campus on Thursday.
Attendance to the Parade of Graduate ceremony is limited to family and friends of the graduates, as well as WNC faculty and staff, and dignitaries because of COVID-19 guidelines preventing large gatherings.
However, the public is invited to watch the ceremony via livestream on the college website at wnc.edu, WNC YouTube channel or on the college’s 2021 commencement page. The commencement page also contains the 2021 grad program and congratulation videos to grads from leaders across the state.
Access the commencement page at wnc.edu/commencement-2021/.
It marks the second straight year — and only the second time ever — that WNC will hold a commencement ceremony on the Fallon campus.
The celebration begins at 9 a.m.

Paul Cirac Scholarship to help rural Nevada students
Paul Cirac's career passion was designing books about Nevada — namely rural Nevada. Going forward, graphic arts students from rural Nevada with this same love will benefit through a scholarship in Cirac's name at Western Nevada College.
The Paul Cirac Scholarship was started in 2020 by his wife of almost 40 years and WNC Professor, Maxine Cirac. Paul’s love of graphic arts, the rural communities and educating students guided Maxine in creating the scholarship in his honor.
Cirac was a fifth-generation Nevadan whose French ancestors settled in Central Nevada. He was self-employed as a graphic artist owning and operating White Sage Studios. He spent his career creating and designing books primarily about Nevada. Paul passed away during the summer of 2020.
The scholarship will help rural Nevada students as they work toward completing degrees and certificates in graphic arts.
To learn more about this scholarship or to start one of your own, contact WNC Foundation at 775-445-3240 or email wnc.foundation@wnc.edu..
