The Rotary Club of Carson City has a long history of helping local students achieve their goals through scholarships and other educational opportunities. Through the Rotary Foundation the local service club has funded hundreds of thousands of dollars in local scholarships, donated to the Western Nevada College Library, as well as funded the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, and the Rotary Eighth Grade Leadership program. Rotarians and the public will learn more about how the club raises money and distributes financial assistance at its next weekly meeting taking place Tuesday, June 1, at 12:30 p.m. at the Carson Nugget. Guests are invited to attend the meeting in person or online via ZOOM. “We want people to know that the Rotary Club of Carson City is deeply committed to our community” said club Treasurer Lori Haney. “Our core mission is Service Above Self, and that is the focus of the projects we fund. We think public will find it interesting to learn about how we give back.” The Rotary Club of Carson City has returned to in person meetings as COVID restrictions have eased. Members and guests may attend in person, or virtually. Anyone interested in attending should contact Peter Fishburn at pfishburn@charter.net.
