A Carson City resident died in a crash involving two motorcycles, according to a news release from the Nevada Highway Patrol.
On Thursday, Oct. 28, at approximately 7:17 p.m., NHP troopers responded to a report of an injury crash involving two motorcycles on East Fir Avenue, east of Nectarine Street in Silver Springs, the release said.
Preliminary investigation shows the rider of a gold 2007 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling westbound on East Fir Avenue directly behind a rider of a black 2002 Honda motorcycle. The rider of the Suzuki failed to use due care, the release said, causing the front of the Suzuki to strike the rear of the Honda. Both motorcycles overturned and both riders were ejected from their motorcycles.
The rider of the Suzuki, Michael Lawson, a 41-year-old Carson City resident, succumbed to his injuries. Impairment is suspected for both riders.
This crash is being investigated by the NHP Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.). The case number is 211002254.
