Heather Korbulic, executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, is resigning that post effective Dec. 3.
Korbulic has been director of the exchange for the past six years but also served as a temporary policy director for the governor’s office during the 2021 Legislature.
As head of SSHIX, Korbulic guided the conversion of the exchange from the federal health exchange program to a state-based exchange.
“I will be forever grateful to Heather for her relentless advocacy, unwavering support and commitment to the people of Nevada,” said Gov. Steve Sisolak in announcing the change.
She was also interim director of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, leading that department through the launch of the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program, automating DETR processes to connect thousands of Nevadans to unemployment benefits as the pandemic hit the state and shut down the economy.
Before those tasks, she spent eight years as Nevada’s Long Term Care Ombudsman in the Aging and Disability Services Division.
“I have poured my heart into this work for over six years and now is the right time to pursue opportunities which will allow me to grow professionally,” she said.
But first, she said, she plans to take two months off.
