7 COVID-19 deaths in Carson City, Douglas County

Carson City Health and Human Services on Thursday reported seven deaths due to COVID-19 occurred in the Quad County region between Nov. 18 and Nov. 24.
Five deaths were in Carson City and two deaths were in Douglas County.
CCHHS also reported 327 new cases, and 340 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region.
This brings the total number of cases to 21,437, with 16,355 recoveries and 374 deaths; 4,708 cases remain active.

Carson City had 5 deaths, 110 new cases, and 102 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 9 new cases per day with a 5.8% test positivity rate.
Douglas County had 2 deaths, 70 new cases, and 90 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 7 new cases per day with a 15.9% test positivity rate.
Lyon County had no deaths, 140 new cases, and 146 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 11 new cases per day with a 12.1% test positivity rate.
Storey County had 7 new cases and 2 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 12.9% test positivity rate.
 
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
 
As of November 24, 2021, approximately 207,969 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 73,488 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 86,594 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 95,806 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna. This number also includes those who completed the series). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.
In Carson City, 33,234 residents have been completely vaccinated and 36,659 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 61.1% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Douglas County, 25,292 residents have been completely vaccinated and 27,956 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 53.2% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Lyon County, 27,275 residents have been completely vaccinated and 30,312 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 49.0% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Storey County, 793 residents have been completely vaccinated and 879 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 19.4% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
 
Quad-County Breakthrough Cases 
Vaccine breakthrough cases are individuals who test positive for COVID-19 14 or more days after they have completed all recommended doses of an FDA authorized COVID-19 vaccine. A complete vaccination is two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson and Johnson (Janssen) vaccine. Since February 1, 2021, breakthrough cases make up of 14 percent of all cases ages 12 years and older.
 
Upcoming CCHHS Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
 
All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first, second, and third doses for those who are immunocompromised. Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen booster doses are available for those who are eligible. Pediatric Pfizer available for those ages 5 to 11 years.
