It might be a bit difficult to take a selfie at one of the new holiday photo-op sites newly installed for this holiday season for it may be difficult to get your arms around the bear, penguin, or reindeer. You’ll just have to rely on the old-fashioned method of having someone take your very cute holiday photo.

As will be seen about 6:15 p.m. on the night of December 3, the city will be resplendent with all new outdoor holiday décor and lights between Hot Springs Road and the round-a-bout. The new décor will be in keeping with the Silver and Snowflake Festival theme and will complement the beautiful lights to be seen in front of the Capitol. The city’s Public Works crew will be putting up the lights around November 29 that won’t be lit until the Governor pulls the switch at the official tree lighting.

This year’s decorations will include decorating and lighting Curry Street as well. The Carson Street décor that had been in place for over 20 years will now light up Curry Street to provide a bit of holiday magic along that once dark corridor encouraging more to dine, shop, or just stroll.

Sure to delight will be nine new decorations to delight children that will be perfect for photo ops. Soon, the family of lighted penguins, colorful bears, and even reindeer will be strategically placed for family photo ops that might be perfect for holiday cards. Each trio come in three sizes - sort of the mama, papa, and baby of each series.
Mayor Lori Bagwell has put in her bid to have the penguins placed in front of city hall and will be on hand to pose with families right after the tree lighting ceremony. Santa, Miss Carson City Abbey Lynn von Fredenburgh, and the Grinch will be available for photos as well.

The reindeer can be found at McFadden Plaza, and the cuddly bears will be seen at Telegraph Square.
