Carson City’s Health and Human Services Department has conducted a statistical data analysis of COVID-19 cases by ethnicity in the Quad County area. On Thursday, Celeste Pierini, a CCHHS graduate student intern and part-time employee who led the analysis, will present her findings to the supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors, doubling as the Board of Health, will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Robert “Bob” Crowell Board Room of the Community Center on 851 E. William St.
Aside from the CCHHS presentation, the board is again considering a collective bargaining agreement with the Carson City Employees Association. Their previous agreement expired at the end of June, and the city has been engaged in negotiations for a new CBA.
The proposed agreement that would run through June 2026 has an estimated fiscal impact of nearly $2 million.
Among their other agenda items, the boards will:
• Issue a proclamation to recognize Oct. 3-9 as Fire Prevention Week.
• Review Historical Tax Deferment requests from properties in the historic district.
• Review and possibly adopt, on second reading, a proposed ordinance that amends the municipal code to better define and prohibit indecent conduct in public.
• Possibly amend an interlocal agreement ensuring that the Western Nevada Regional Youth Center maintain compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act requirements.
• Discuss and possibly approve a Final Subdivision Map for the Silver View Townhomes project on the northwest corner of Clearview Drive and Silver Sage Drive.
• Approve resolutions to finance city water and building projects through general obligation bonds. The city estimates that it will need an additional $6.1 million to fund a new fire station with emergency operations and dispatch, and an additional $5.5 million for the Quill Water Treatment Plant Upgrade project. These resolutions to issue general obligation bonds are the second step in a five-step process to secure funding through a bond ordinance.
