The regular season ends in two weeks and several teams are vying for a berth in the regional tournament. Both Fallon soccer teams still have a chance to make the playoffs but will need to take care of business this week against a pair of Lyon County schools before ending the slate next week against Elko and Spring Creek. The Fallon and Oasis Academy volleyball teams were victorious last week, and the Lady Wave still has an opportunity to sneak into the playoffs. However, Fallon will need to avenge a pair of early losses to Fernley and Dayton this week before taking on a pair of Elko County schools next week. The following is a recap of Greenwave and Bighorns action from last week.

Volleyball The Lady Wave bounced back last week to stay in the playoff race after a four-game win over Lowry. Fallon prevented a Buckaroo comeback on the road, winning 25-23, 25-22, 17-25 and 25-23 on Tuesday. This week will be critical for Fallon as only the top-three teams in the 3A East advance to the postseason in two weeks. Fallon hosted 3A West’s South Tahoe on Tuesday but then jumps back into league play with a road game at Fernley today. Fallon hosts Dayton on Saturday for Senior Day before traveling to Elko and Spring Creek next week to end the regular season. The regional tournament is in Fallon from Nov. 4-6 with the top-two finishers going to state. Oasis Academy split last week’s contests, sweeping Sierra Rage Academy on Tuesday before losing to Virginia City on Thursday. The Bighorns won Tuesday’s match 25-22, 25-19 and 25-14. Virginia City, one of the best teams in the 1A, swept Oasis Academy. Soccer Both the Greenwave soccer teams suffered a league loss to Lowry last week. Still in the fight for a playoff spot, the Lady Wave fell to Lowry, 3-1, in Winnemucca on Tuesday. Even with the loss, Fallon is still in the third and final spot with two weeks left in the season. Fallon is 2-2-2 but entertains Dayton, which is in fourth, on Saturday. Fallon, which travels to Fernley this week, closes out the season next week at Elko and Spring Creek. After a scoreless first half, the Fallon boys dropped a 2-1 decision at home on Thursday. Fallon hosts Fernley and then travels to Dayton this week before hosting Elko and Spring Creek next week to end the season. Fallon isn’t out of the playoff race but would need to sweep this week’s contests to set up a showdown next week with Spring Creek for third place
