Nevada Appeal staff report
Friday, October 29, 2021
Visit Carson City has launched a new experiences app, MOPO, for users by recommending area activities and events based on a user’s specific values and interests. The app will be available throughout this weekend’s Nevada Day celebrations.
By partnering with MOPO, Visit Carson City offers visitors and locals a next-generation mobile solution featuring an extensive library of local activities, events and content. MOPO’s artificial intelligence-driven personalization technology enables consumers to discover experiences that are right for them and local businesses to expand their base of new, qualified customers. The app’s built-in social network for experiences allows users to connect and engage with others around the things they care about.
This weekend, users who download the app through a dedicated link on the Visit Carson City website or social media posts can access a curated suite of Nevada Day content with the latest information on events, including start times and locations, lists of suggested activities, participating businesses and more. The app’s social feed allows users to share information and photos and see what others are saying and doing. Local businesses also can join the platform, free of charge, to showcase their activities.
“As a destination market with strong community ties, we’re thrilled to be getting in on the ground floor of this free new experiences app,” David Peterson, executive director of Visit Carson City, said. “MOPO is a different kind of recreation app, breaking new ground. We think their innovative approach will bring great benefits to both our visitors and the local community we serve. It showcases the wide breadth of activities and events that our region has to offer in a user-friendly, personalized way.”
