Gov. Steve Sisolak on Thursday issued a directive expanding mask rules for large indoor events to include conventions.
The directive gives convention organizers the ability to choose between requiring masks for all attendees regardless of vaccination status or ensuring all attendees are vaccinated, in which case, they can remove their masks.
He stressed that it isn’t a requirement to show proof of vaccination but an option if the convention operator chooses to require proof attendees have been vaccinated.
The rule applies to conventions that will have 4,000 guests or more and is open only to those who have completed pre-registration for the convention.
Conventions can admit people who have received one of the two shots but those people must continue to wear masks.
It also requires operators to implement a way to verify vaccination status.
