Shoe Tree Brewing won seven total medals over three competitions last week, according to a news release. Two of the competitions are among the largest in the world. At the Great American Beer Festival, they were awarded a silver medal. More than 9,500 beers were entered in the GABF in 97 beer categories, making it the largest beer competition in the world. The best beers were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals at a ceremony in Denver on Sept. 10 during the Craft Brewers Conference. Shoe Tree also took home five medals (three gold and two bronze) at the 2021 U.S. Open Beer Championship held in Ohio, with 8,000 beers representing more than 140 styles. Finally, Shoe Tree took home a bronze at the National Honey Board's beer competition. Shoe Tree Brewing was recognized in the specialty beer-style category for its Coco Burrito Porter at the Great American Beer Festival. At the U.S. Open Beer Championships, their Hoptropica, Root Tang Clan, and Happy Farmer were all awarded gold in their categories. Ash Canyon Amber and Coco Burrito Supreme were both awarded bronze. Their Honey Punch in the Nose Lager took bronze in the general lager category at the National Honey Board Beer Competition. Shoe Tree Brewing is both Carson City and Minden's oldest operating and most award-winning brewery. "It's always been our goal to provide world-class beer to Carson City, Minden, and Northern Nevada. These awards help validate to us that we are on the right track." said Jeff Young, owner/brewmaster at Shoe Tree Brewing. "Despite being forced to cancel the festival portion of GABF, our brewing community rallied together to make this year's GABF competition one for the books — our largest competition judged to date," said Chris Swersey, competition director, Great American Beer Festival. "Judges continue to be impressed with the quality and innovation of all entries they evaluated. The Brewers Association is proud to honor this year's deserving winners."
