Fallon senior Michaella Pursley vaults at 8 feet in Friday’s final home meet of the season.
The Greenwave track and field team is starting to hit its stride as Fallon enters the second half of its meet schedule.
Fallon hosted Senior Day, on Friday at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex before traveling to South Reno the following day for the Galena Invitational. Fallon travels to Reno this afternoon for the North Valleys Relays and will not compete for another two weeks when the Greenwave travels to South Tahoe and Truckee to end the month.
Damonte Ranch and Galena won the boys and girls divisions with 113.2 and 136.2 points, respectively, in Saturday’s Galena Invitational. Fallon’s girls team finished seventh with 48 points while the boys were 10th with 27 points.
Several Greenwave competitors medaled, including senior McCartney McAlexander, who placed in the top four of all four events. McAlexander broke the school record again in the shot put to win the event after a throw of 39 feet, 8.75 inches. She also finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.34, and fourth in the 800 in 2:36.72 and long jump at 15-4.
Sophomore Jesslyn Lewis medaled in three events, including a fourth-place jump of 32-4.5 in the triple jump. She jumped 15-2.5, a personal best, to finish fifth in the long jump and ran a 13.58 for seventh in the 100.
Senior Savanna Regli finished fourth in the 1600 at 5:54.10 and eighth in the 3200 at 13:15.97.
The 4x100 relay team of Rachel Mori, Zoey Jarrett, Zoey Brown and Lewis finished seventh in 54.60. The 4x400 team of Ruth Casillas Ibarra, Brown, Mori and Regli was eighth in 4:57.34.
For the boys, sophomore Kanigh Snyder medaled in three individual events and ran on the eighth-place 4x400 relay team. Snyder finished fifth in the 400 in 54.95, discus at 127-2 and triple jump at 38-7. All were personal bests.
James Sorensen finished fourth in the 300 hurdles in 46.59, a personal best, and sixth in the 110 hurdles in 19.56. Luke Sorensen was sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet.
The distance medley relay team of Garrett Rasmussen, Caleb Proffen, William Brim-Klein and Snyder finished seventh in 13:12.02. The 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 teams each finished eighth with times of 49.15, 1:39.42 and 4:00.66. Luke Sorensen, Max McCoy, Casamaro White and Ethan Tarner ran on the 4x100 team, while both Sorensens, McCoy and Proffen ran the 4x200. Rasmussen, Proffen, Brim-Klein and Snyder were on the 4x400 team.
